Brother Joseph L. Sweet

Bro. Sweet was a partner from circa 1875 to 1930 with Robert Fitz Simmons and Edgar L. Hixon in Attleboro, Ma as
R. F. SIMMONS Company, manufacturing jewelers.
After taking upon the degrees of Freemasonry, Joseph took a Pilgrimage to Jerusalem and neighboring areas in 1905.
Returning with a Gavel and 2 ashlars, one rough one smooth from the same quarries that produced King Solomon’s temple.
Joseph’s son Bro. Harold Sweet would become the first mayor of Attleboro.
