In 1977 George Lucas gave a mythology to a generation that needed one desperately. 300 years earlier, Freemasonry did the same thing. Preston used the books that he printed in his shop as fodder for the lectures he wrote.

George Lucas, inspired by Joseph Campbell, used ancient mythology to craft the greatest science fiction trilogy in history (we’ll forgive him for the Ewoks). Preston, improving on what he found, made Freemasonry deeper if not more meaningful. It cannot be disputed that his improvements helped make Freemasonry the most influential Fraternal organization in the world. The similarities don’t stop there. Many common symbols and allusions are shared among the two not the least of which is the Widow’s Son. We’ll explore this and many other shared symbols and allusions.
