Sometimes things are only mysterious because we complicate the obvious. Mermaids are one of those things. These creatures of the sea are among the most popular characters in modern entertainment and art, and yet they have a long story which takes us back, deep into prehistory. In Mermaids, the Real Story, Michelle Snyder takes us on that journey. It is one of discovery and enlightenment that will both surprise and delight you.
Symbols and the stories they tell preserve knowledge, history, and tradition, and the mermaid is no exception. Astronomy, time, and geometry are among the subjects we find hidden within, whispering to us of intelligent ancestors who preserved their memory in oral tradition and symbolism.
Michelle Snyder is a professor of mythology, folklore, and symbolism, an author, speaker, columnist, and blogger. Her thesis at the University of Wales was on the prehistoric origin and meaning of symbols, myths, and folklore. She has many books published, both fiction and non-fiction, based on her expertise in this field, and her seminars on the subject are unique and enlightening. She is co-owner of White Knight Studio with her husband Jay who is a PM of Meridian Lodge, and a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason. They serve together as WM and WP at Aurora Chapter in Natick, MA.
