Brother James Young Simpson<\/strong><\/p>\n June 7th 1811 – May 6th 1870<\/p>\n Brother Simpson discovered the anesthetic properties of chloroform<\/a> and successfully popularized the drug for use in medicine<\/p>\n Simpson completed his final medical examination at the age of 18 but, as he was so young, had to wait two years before he got his license to practice medicine.
