Brother Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Castro Madriz<\/strong><\/p>\n September 1st 1818 \u2013 April 4th 1892<\/p>\n \u00a0Costa Rican\u00a0lawyer, academic,\u00a0diplomat, and\u00a0politician. He served twice as\u00a0President of Costa Rica, from 1847 to 1849, and from 1866 to 1868. On both occasions he was prevented from completing his term of office by\u00a0military coups.
