Brother James Naismith<\/strong><\/p>\n November 6th 1861 \u2013 November 28th 1939<\/span><\/p>\n Member of:<\/p>\n Roswell Lee Lodge<\/a>, Springfield, Massachusetts<\/p>\n Later<\/p>\n Lawrence Lodge #6<\/a>, Lawrence, Kansas Canadian physical educator, physician, chaplain, sports coach and innovator. He invented the sport of basketball in 1891. He wrote the original basketball rule book<\/a> and founded the University of Kansas basketball program<\/a>.
